Georgetown: Minister of Business, Dominic Gaskin recently met with members of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), at the Ministry’s boardroom (formerly Ministry of Tourism), South Road, Georgetown.
The meeting, initiated by the PSC, was aimed at familiarising the Commission’s members with the new Minister, as well as allowing them to have a better understanding of the Ministry’s plans.
According to Chairman of the PSC, Ramesh Persaud, the private sector welcomes the new Ministry as an independent body. He said there may be some new concepts and ideas as against the existing ones which were under the former Ministry of Tourism Industry and Commerce.
He added that it was a great pleasure for the Commission Members to be given the opportunity to interact with the Minister, and at the same time be able to put forward new ideas and discuss areas of progress for the future of the business sector.
Meanwhile, Minister Gaskin welcomed the meeting and expressed gratitude to the PSC for reaching out to him.
He added that since the Business Ministry will be housing several units and agencies, it is important that the private sector community become acquainted with the plans, and highlight the areas where they would like to see changes and or improvements.
This will in turn allow for a greater level of progress for the business and investment sectors.
