Georgetown : A team from the Private Sector Commission ( PSC) met yesterday afternoon to discuss the present disaster in Region 9 and have made a decision to assist with logistics and supplies.
Lethem is only accessible by air at present and they will soon be running out of essential food items and more important, medical and portable water supplies.
Based on a situation assessment done by the team using aerial photographs and information received from the private sector colleagues in Region 9, the team decided that it is time for the private sector to support the Government in their effort to assist the affected communities.
PSC is in the process of opening two bank accounts, one with Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited and the other with Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, the details of this will be made available soon for those who are willing to make contribution.
