Public, Private partnership in housing sector

Georgetown: Under the theme “Embracing the prospect of Affordable Living, Opening Doors while opening Minds” 50 starter homes are now available for potential home owners to view at Prospect, East Bank Demerara.

This is being made possible through a public private partnership involving the Ministry of Communities Central Housing and Planning Authority and private investors.

There is the low income duplex, hinterland, V-Roof and a home designed for persons living with disabilities.

Providing an overview of the project Chief Executive Officer of CH&PA, Lelon Saul said with the high demand for housing needs, the authority will also be moving away from the concept of single units and duplexes and making condominiums available.

The houses which are mostly 20 X 20 cater for the low income bracket of seventy-five thousand dollars and below and the middle income of GUY$120,000 dollars and below.

The houses built by CH&PA which are located on the front row cost four million dollars while the land cost one hundred thousand dollars.

The Guyana Defence Force and the Guyana Prison Service have also been part of the project.

One lucky person will also be eligible to win one of the houses built by CH&PA with a draw to be held at the Brickdam office on April 1, however if you already own a home or house lot another name will be pulled.

The coupons are available when you visit the Open House Exhibition.
