Public works Ministry breaking down illegal structures along Sherrif Street

Georgetown : Businesses and residents along Sheriff Street are now counting their losses after workers attached to the Ministry of Public Works began to break structures and bridges they claim are illegal.

The affected persons which includes Sanjay’s Jewellery, Ray’s Auto Spares, The Home Furnishing Depot said they were not notified of the activity of the Ministry and pointed out that their bridges are built after being given permission from the City Engineer Department within the Mayor and City Council.

Some of the persons were left amazed as their structures were destroyed.

This news agency was informed that injunctions were being sought to retrain the Minister of Public Works Robsen Benn from demolishing the structures.

According to the Ministry, they are widening the road to be a four lane.
