Opposition Leader says Central Bank must tell the truth

Bridgetown.

The Central Bank of Barbados must tell Barbadians the truth and nothing but the unharnessed truth, Leader of the Opposition, Owen Arthur made the plea last night while addressing members of the St Peter Constituency Branch of the Barbados Labour Party at Alma Parris School.

Arthur accused the Central Bank and its Governor Dr DeLisle Worrell of departing from traditional processes that were crucial to the good governance of Barbados.

"There is no institution that is more integral to that process of good governance than the Central Bank of Barbados who, when they tell you that the rate of exchange will be X, you must believe it without having to doubt the integrity of the process by which those numbers were given"Arthur said.

He added that Barbadians high esteem for the Central Bank must be restored, instead of they believing that information from the bank may be inspired by sordid political purpose.
