Port of Spain: The earthquake that jolted Trinidadians this morning was felt as far up the Caribbean chain as St Lucia.
The UWI Seismic Unit is reporting that the shaking started around 8.16 a.m. north of the Paria peninsula and rocked parts of Trinidad, St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Grenada. The magnitude was 5.1.
The earthquake is the second to be felt in Trinidad in a month the last one being on January 4th. Local residents described today's as "long and strong" as the shaking went on for at least 45 seconds.
No damage or injuries were reported.
