Georgetown : Peter Ramsaroop, a former presidential candidate for 2011 and former CEO of the Alliance for Change has come out as a strong advocate for the PPP/ C 2011 manifesto. Ramsaroop and his political entity Vision Guyana had put together a progressive blueprint for Guyana’s development under the banner “Together We Will:” and took it across the nation.
In an interview with Ramsaroop, he told Caribbean Trakker that the PPP/C manifesto outlines many of the programs he himself would want to see happen in Guyana over the next five years. Ramsaroop believes that Guyana is on the move towards an emerging economy with higher ratings as these programs are implemented. He said the main concept of the plan is overall economic development through two key components.
“Transport of goods between our nations industries and trade partners around the globe. For example, placing a hub along the transit route where agricultural farmers, miners, etc. will bring their goods for transport to the proposed Deep Water Harbour serving as gateway to Caribbean community and/or Lethem which will serve as gateway to Boa Vista, Brazil” Secondly Energy Improvements – Oil explorations, sugar ethanol refineries, and hydro plants , Wind and Solar.
Ramsaroop also said there is focus development on all regions. As we solve our energy issues, industries such as manufacturing in Region 10 will be at our possible for example Bauxite to Aluminum. In addition Guyana will become a key agriculture hub as currently the Caribbean imports close to 4Billion US in food annually. Guyana is targeting a large piece of this market and would be possible as we move to a transport led economy with the deep water harbour, the expansion of the Airport and the completing the road to Brazil. Ramsaroop said that the technology infusion such as the country wide fiber optic cable will be the foundation pillar of investment opportunities as companies can now transact their business globally. Ramsaroop hopes that Guyana becomes a premier nation for new investments as large companies look to move their investments in emerging economies.
Ramsaroop said under a PPP/ Ramotar Administration these projects will shape Guyana into a modern nation while still concentrating on the heavy social programs that are necessary in our nation. New companies want to see us streamline more our processes for investment and ease to do business and that is a commitment of the new administration. He said that the main opposition has failed to put together a plan that excites the population and with its decisive politics will hold the nation hostage in moving forward.
