Port-of-Spain: Regional low cost carrier Redjet will make its inaugural flight from Port-of-Spain on July 28th.
After three months of uncertainity the airline has been granted certification and licences to operate out of Trinidad and Tobago.
Speaking at a news conference at the Carlton Savannah today, Redjet's CEO Ian Burns said the airline is grateful to former Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner for all he has done in ensuring that the airline was granted the relevant permission to fly to this country.
He said however that he believes new Transport Minister Devant Maharaj was also instrumental in assisting the regional airline, since he says it always difficult for new business entities to penetrate markets where the state has major control.
Already Redjet's tickets are on sale. The airline is boasting the lowest airfare for any airline as Business Development Manager, Robbie Burns says that flights will always be 60 percent cheaper than the nearest competitor.
Redjet has been operating out of Guyana and Barbados thus far and in the coming weeks it is expected to annouce routes to Jamaica.
Redjet officials are confident the airline will survive and be successful despite its low airfares.
