Redjet not in jeopardy says CEO

Bridgetown.

Redjet future is not in jeopardy and the airline do not need an $8 million injection to keep it afloat, this is the view of chief executive officer of the low cost carrier Ian Burns.

In a reaction to statements made recently by Barbadian shareholder Ralph Williams that $8 million invested in the airline for operating expenses in first months of the company had to be used elsewhere, Burns said Williams statements may have been made out of frustration.

"In terms of the issue of Redjet and as to where it is today the airline has  clearly demonstrated that we have made the and have moved beyond the of Mr Williams", the ceo said.

He added that since Williams' comments, Redjet had brought in its third aircraft, had invested in upgrading its maintenance facilities, taken on another batch of pilots and invested in the upgrade of the call centre by employing another ten people.

"We have invested in the infastructural development of Redjet as it looks to expand the business for 2012 , we are also looking to commence services  to central America", Burns said.

He dismissed media reports that the airline had been forced to cancel several flights.

According to Burns, the airline have reschedued some of its flights because it will be announcing new routes within the next two weeks and had to make space within the existing schedules in order to accommodate those routes.
