Bridgetown.
Low cost carrier Redjet, played a significant role in increasing visitors from the Caribbean to Barbados says President of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism & Tourism Association, (BHTA) Colin Jordan.
According to Jordan, visitors from Trinidad and Tobago increase by 35 percent and 9 percent from the other Caribbean island last year.
"The BHTA has always been supportive of Redjet's entry into the market as we recognized the need for some more competition in the market. We were however careful to indicate that the Caribbean is littered with failed airline", Jordan said.
He is predicting higher fares for inter- regional travel with the grounding of the airline.
