Georgetown : Gaining the top position with a score of 537 marks is Terron Alleyne of Regma Primary, Region Ten, followed by Sariah Singh of ABC Academy with 536, Sarah David-Longe of Success Academy, Region Four, Angelie Persaud from C.V. Nunes Primary, Region Two, and Carl Hopkinson from Regma Primary, each with 534 marks.
Education Minister Shaik Baksh said, “These results show a significant improvement in students who have gained 50 percent and more and shows that the education system is improving in terms of the quality of educational outcomes,” .
The Minister highlighted several factors which are responsible for this year’s results including a proactive approach taken in the diagnostic assessment of the Grades 2 and 4 assessments, the remediation programme, teacher preparation and commitment, Interactive Radio Instruction, the implementation o the Grade 4 literacy certificate and the introduction of child-friendly schools.
The top performing schools include C.V. Nunes in Region; Leonora, Success Elementary, Novar, Region 5; Cumberland, Region 6, Regma, and Mae’s Under 10 and Green Acres in Georgetown.
