Georgetown: The Region three Chamber of Commerce and Industry presented security cameras and a DVR to the Commander of ‘D’ Division (West Demerara and East Bank Essequibo) Senior Superintendent Reshi Dass and his team on Friday to better monitor the activities within the confines of the Lenora Police Station compound.

President of the Region Three Chambers Halim Khan said this will aid the commander and his team to better monitor the activities within the station confines as the chambers is committed in supporting the police to ensure the  region is safe and secure.

Khan said crime is less likely to occur in places where security cameras have been installed, since criminals prefer to hide from cameras to avoid being traced.

The Chambers President said the mere sight of CCTV hardware can be a deterrent to negative behaviour in general, and CCTV recordings serve as reliable sources of evidence to unravel mysteries behind crime.

“We know what the police are doing to protect us and so in our own small way, we shall also contribute to the development of our police service and the country. We the citizens also have roles to play in ensuring that the nation is secured,” Khan said.

Commander Senior Superintendent Reshi Dass expressed his appreciation at the gesture to improve security.
