Registration Department is 125 years

Bridgetown.

The Registration Department celebrated its 125th anniversary with church service with a musical component  yesterday at the All Souls Anglican Church, Bank Hall, St Michael.

Registrar Marva Clarke, explained the role of the department :" We are the keepers of vital records such as birth, deaths and we also help in the administration of justice were we see court matters from filing to completion".

According to Clarke,  one one of the challenges facing the court system is the long waiting times before cases are heard, she said there would always be challenges once the human element was involved.

Several governmental and court officials attended the service, among them were the Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, Chief Justice Marston Gibson and Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite.
