Relief is on the way for residents of St Peter and St Lucy, who were affected by the heavy rains in the northern parts of the island last week.
Minister of the Environment, Water Resources and Drainage, Denis Kellman give the assurance after visiting several areas in St Lucy and St Peter,that were flooded during the heavy rains
"Over the years we have received a number of complains about the drainage in in several villages in the northern parts of the island," Kellman told the press.
He continued," Last week we had rain for 12 hours straight, which caused significant damage to villages in St Peter and Lucy".
Therefore, we wanted the technorcrats to come and assess what harm has been done to the drainage system," says Kellman.
Kellman stated that the Government could not tackle the drainage problem alone.
He added that Barbadians had a pivotal role to play by creasing to litter indiscriminately.
Several technocrats from the Ministry accompanied the Minister on the tour.
