Georgetown: Commander of ‘F’ Division (Lethem and other Interior Locations) Senior Superintendent Ravindradat Budhram has urged the public to report any misuse of Guyana Police Force vehicles since condign action will be taken against ranks.
The commander made this disclosure Saturday when eleven new All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) and three pickups were handed over to the division at a simple ceremony at First Avenue Bartica, Region seven.
The ceremony commenced with a prayer done by pastor Lennox Rankin of the Bartica Baptist Church. Also in attendance was Region Chairman Gordon Bradford and members of the business community.
In expressing his gratitude to the People’s Republic of China, Government of Guyana and the Force Administration for the much needed vehicles to patrol the division, Budhram said under his watch he will not tolerate ranks behaving recklessly and driving the vehicles in a dangerous manner to the public.
“If any accidents occur an investigation will be done and whoever is at fault actions will be taken against,” he noted.
The Commander also posited that the vehicles would greatly assist in helping ranks to keep the crime rate down, moreso at this time of the festive season, when there is expected to be intensified Police patrols.
The senior superintendent said that a maintenance plan is in place in the division to care for the vehicles along with a data base and system of daily inspections.
Adding that drivers underwent a two days refresher training on the use and maintenance of the vehicles, Commander Budhram said in order for the vehicles to be put in use, ranks will have to sign for the keys and fill out a handing over form after every shift. The name of the station and emergency number will be printed on each vehicle.
