Resident doctor to be stationed at Buxton Health Center.

East Coast Demerara : Minister within the Ministry of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran disclosed that a doctor will be living in a house at back of the Buxton Community Health Centre.

This new arrangement will see the working hours being staggered, allowing for the provision of health care services in the evening hours.

“This will be a relief to the working mothers and others, some of whom work as far away as Georgetown… the working people of this densely populated historic village and its environs will be able to access better health care without sacrificing gainful work time.” Minister Ramsaran explained.

This project is a pilot of the new approach that the Health Ministry intends to pursue at major health centers at strategic locations based on the availability of the large numbers of graduate doctors from the visionary Guyana/Cuba Enhanced Cooperation.
