Residents told to take tsunami’s seriously

A Caribbean-wide tsunami watch has been withdrawn after a strong 7.6 earthquake rocked Costa Rica.

The 7.6 earthquake rattled buildings and cut power in some areas of the capital of San Jose, Costa Rica.

The Caribbean wide warning was issued immediately following the earthquake but was later withdrawn.

The 8:42 a.m. quake struck about 38 miles from the town of Liberia and 88 miles west of the capital, San Jose.

A tsunami warning was in effect for Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Peru.
