Georgetown: A well-known rice farmer of West Coast Berbice was shot dead on Monday night. Dead is 59-year-old Gregory Adolphus Pluck.

His son, Denson Reynolds told the media that his father had just entered his yard when he saw three persons behind his home.
He related that as his father tried to inquire from the men what they were doing on his property, he was attacked by them as they attempt to gain entry into his home.
Reports are that during this time, the victim’s wife and niece who were in the house ran to the upper flat to hide and later heard a loud explosion.
Moments later, Gregory Reynolds was found lying motionless next to the door with a large sum of case in his possession.
The fact that the money was not taken has led to family to conclude that the incident was not a robbery but “a hit” on the rice farmer.
The family explained that Reynolds recently won a portion of land from another farmer in the area.
The family is now asking the police to investigate the matter thoroughly. The police have detained the wife of the deceased for questioning. Reynolds has left to mourn his wife and five children.
At the time of his death, in addition to his work as an APNU/AFC councilor in the NDC, he was also serving as a member of the Number 8 Village # People’s National Congress (PNC) Group, a member of the Community Development Council (CDC) for his neighborhood and a member of the Young Adventurers Cash Crop Group in his area.
