Robbery victim stable in hospital after treated for chop wounds

Berbice : 60 year old Dilip Narine is listed stable in the Georgetown Hospital after being treated for chop wounds.

The police say yesterday two men armed with a handgun and a cutlass entered the house of Meena Gobin, 30 years and her sister Jeenarine Narine, 26 years , at Betsy Ground, Canje, through an open door and held them up. The men then took away $40,000.00 and escaped.

The two sisters subsequently went in search of their father Dilip Narine who was outside in the yard at the time of the robbery and found him with several chop wounds about his body. The man was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital from where he was referred to the Georgetown Hospital and has been admitted for further medical attention
