Georgetown : PPP presidential candidate Donald Ramotar speaking at a press briefing at Freedom House simultaneously as the joint opposition parties announced the formation of A Partnership for National Unity ( APNU) at Pegasus Hotel, responded to a question of word of speculation that co-founder of the Working People’s Alliance (WPA) Rupert Roopnarine has accepted the Prime Ministerial candidate for APNU.
Ramotar said it will be disappointing since Roopnarine came from a party whose leader Walter Rodney was assassinated in the same time when PNC presidential candidate David Granger was a senior person in the Army.
This he claims will be a great betrayal to the WPA.
However TrakkerNews was reliably informed from a source out of Granger’s camp claiming, the Roopnarine story of being selected as prime ministerial candidate for APNU was bare speculation published by a local on line news agency. APNU will be announcing their PM candidate and slate at a press conference on July 8th, meanwhile Ramotar said the selection of his running mate is still being debated at the party’s central executive and will be announced shortly.
