Port-of-Spain: Government is being accused of trying to cover up a mistake in the appointment of Director of Financial Intelligence Unit, Susan Francois. Her appointment which was announced in February by Attorney General Anand Ramlogan was immediately criticised by the Opposition. Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley today accused the Government of amending the law to cover up its actions. He says that the entire process of appointment should be looked at as all appointments should be made by the Public Service Commission. He said the position should be advertised, applicants apply and interviewed so to avoid favouritism. He said while he does not have a problem with Ms Francois he does believe that the process in which she was chosen was flawed.
