Rum deal

A Barbadian rum company has secured a contract with a leading sprits and wine brand. Foursquare Rum Distillery in St Philip has signed a contract with Moet Hennessy of France to distill, blend and botle 10 Cane rum.

According to Executive Chairman of Fourquare Rum Distillery Sir David Seale, the contract with the French company is exected to generate over $100 million in foreign exchange to the Barbadian economy and create several jobs over the next five years.

Describing this as good news for Barbados Sir David told the media that the  rum, had previously been distilled, blended and bottled in Trinidad.

“So you may say, this is Barbados’ gain over Trinidad, It is very exciting because this brand, having been established world-wide, it has a track record, so we are not starting from zero. We are starting from a point that is a guaranteed amount that you can produce", Sir David said.

“It is a recognition, really, that our distillery which was named the Distillery Of The Year in 2010, is now being recognized throughout the world as a world-class facility,” he added.1-cane_rumDavid_Seale_Sir-450x350
