Bridgetown.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley, says the sale of the Barbados National Bank to Republic Bank of Trinidad and Tobago is an example of a threat to Barbados'emancipation that must be faced head on.
In his Emancipation Day message during a cermony in Independence Square yesterday, Lashley said: "While we may be watching the horizons for threats coming to our shores. I believe we have to look internally at those things that are threatening our own livelihood, our national assets need once again to be secured for our people, hopefully never again would somebody seek to sell off an institution".
During his message, Lashley made a call for a Reparations Commission to be established to help look after the social, economical, developmental and other needs of Barbados and its citizens.
