East Bank Demerara : Investigations are being conducted into a fire that occurred last night at Little Diamond, East Bank Demerara, which resulted in the death of Cynthia Persaud.
The police said the 82 year old Cynthia Persaud lived alone in the bottom flat of the house, from where fire was seen by neighbouring residents. The residents formed a bucket brigade and along with Fire Service personnel, who arrived subsequently, extinguished the blaze.
The charred remains of Cynthia Persaud was later found in the bedroom of the home.
