Serial rapist faces fourth rape charge

Georgetown: Thurston Semple, 37, a taxi-driver of 5A Tucville Terrace, Georgetown was on Friday slapped with his fourth rape charge and was remanded to prison.

Semple, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on February 24, 2021, at 5A Tucville Terrace, he engaged in sexual penetration with a Venezuelan woman without her consent.

The police prosecutor made objections to bail being granted to Semple citing the fact that Semple was previously charged for raping three sex workers and was committed to stand trial in the High Court for two and that he might cause harm to the witness since after this incident occurred other woman came forward with allegations against him

Chief Magistrate McLennan remanded Semple to prison and the matter was adjourned to March 11, 2021.

Semple allegedly raped, sodomised and battered one of the Venezuelan women. She had reported that she managed to escape the hands of Semple after she jumped through a front window of his home.

She further alleged that Semple reportedly came after her and repeatedly battered her in his yard.

The woman reportedly suffered a fractured rib, lacerations to the face and multiple cut wounds.  The matter was reported and Semple was later arrested and charged for the offense.

It was also reported that he picked up the women and promised to pay them $10,000 each to have sex with him. After the women performed various sex acts on him, Semple reportedly threatened them and dropped them off at the location where he picked them up without giving them a cent.
