Bel air, East Coast Demerara- Just after 10 this morning the driver of a car with his wife and child inside jumped the major road at Bel air four corner slamming into a canter truck sending it topsy turvy into a power pole before resting four wheel four wheel up in a trench. The driver of the truck GHH 1709 known as brother in his 30's is employed with R&S Construction at was at the time heading west along the railway embankment towards Sheriff street when the car came into his path. According to the owner of the construction company, brother tried desperately to avoid the car that came into his path by swerving outwards when he was slammed to the side sending him crashing into the power pole and into the trench. He managed to loosen his seatbelt and miraculously escaped without a scratch.Meanwhile, the driver of the car along with his family did not sustain any injuries. A worker of the company went into the trench looking for the truck driver's belongings and found a bible in his bag which was retrieved. His boss said that he was a good worker and there is no doubt that a miracle happened. The four corner over the years has seen it's share of accidents. Drivers often fail to stop at the junction although there are road markings. One driver who was passing said that the authorities need to erect a traffic light at the spot.
