Georgetown: Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Friday about 06:45hrs on New Hope Public Road ,East Bank Demerara involving Motor Pick up # GRR 1909 driven by a 45 year-old resident of North East Lusignan, East Coast Demerara and Mini Bus BWW 2940 driven by Oswald Roberts ,age 59yrs (Deceased) of lot 489 Kuru Kururu , Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
Enquires disclosed that Motor Pickup # GRR 1909 was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the road at a fast rate of speed when the driver lost control of the said vehicle and started to swerve from east to west across the road into the path of mini bus # BWW 2940 which was proceeding north along the western side of the said road and collided head on.
As a result of the collision both vehicles were extensively damaged. Both drivers, occupant and passengers of the mini bus and motor pickup were picked up in conscious and semi conscious conditions and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where they were seen and examined by doctors on duty where the driver of the minibus was pronounced dead on arrival and the following passengers Andre King , age 48yrs of lot 156 Kuru Kururu, Dave Taylor ,age 22yrs of Laluni Creek Soesdyke /Linden Highway, Sheena Chin ,age 23yrs and Gina Chin ,age 24yrs both of lot X Kuru Kururu ,Soesdyke/Linden Highway, Candacie Vickerrie ,age 32 years of lot 13 Kuru Kururu,Soesdyke /Linden Highway, Glixman Adams ,age 69 yrs of lot 150 Kuru Kururu , Soesdyke /Linden Highway , John Cheddie ,age 28 yrs and Murrissa Mc Pherson ,age 29 yrs.,both of lot 355 Kuru kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, Tatema Murray ,age 35 yrs of lot 273 Kuru kururu , Soesdyke/ Linden Highway , Cherryan Millington ,age 30 yrs of lot 150 Kuru kururu ,Linden /Highway, T.Deolall ,age 42 yrs of lot 5 Kuru Kururu ,Soesdyke /Linden Highway were all seen and examined by doctors on duty and transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment and to undergo medical surgery.
The driver of motor pickup # GWW 1909 and occupant Ashley Persaud of Lusignan ,East Coast Demerara were also examined at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre and later took self discharge and proceeded to the Mercy Hospital where they were further seen and examined by by doctors on duty and admitted patients suffering from abdominal trauma and a fractured right arm respectively .
