Bridgetown.
Over 600 workers who lost their jobs when Almond Beach Village in St Peter closed at the end of April have received $9.5 million in severance and other payments.
Gervase Warner, chief executive officer of Neal and Massy , told a special shareholders meeting of Almond Resorts Inc yesterday.
According to a source Warner revealed that Neal and Massy had also paid out $600,000 in penalties for not meeting contractual arrangement with tour companies and guests.
The source said Warner told the meeting it was unlikely Almond Resorts Inc would be paying more money in severance, because the two other hotels Almond Casuarina in Christ Church and Almond Beach in St james would be sold as going concerns.
