Progress is being made on a Bill to end sexual harassment in the workplace in Barbados.
Minister of Labour,Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo give this assurance in an address to the 48th annual meeting of the Soroptimist International of Barbados.
"I have to made the point that this bill is not only for women, because sexual harassment affects men as well',said Byer-Suckoo.
Nevertheless, she said that sexual harassment in the workplace predominately affects women.
Dr Byer-Suckoo stated, that this had been revealed in a a recent study done by students of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.
"I am pleased to see that coming out of that study 96 percent of the respondents agreed that sexual harassment legislation was needed in the workplace. And that emboldened me, because I know that for too long, this legislation has been lying around," Byer -Suckoo told the meeting.
