Newly elected Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley announced her Shadow Cabinet over the weekend.
Mottley will be shadowing the Office of the Prime Minister and the key portfolios of Finance and Economic affairs.
Dale Marshall who served as Deputy Opposition Leader in the last Parliament will shadow the Attorney General and Police matters.
Veteran MP George Payne will be the the spokeman on Home Affairs, Labour and the Public Service. Ronald Toppin another veteran Member of Parliament is the Shadow Minister of Energy Science, Technology and Innovation.
Among the newly elected Members of Parliament dentist Maria Agard will be shadow Minister of Health and Soical Security. Santia Bradshaw has been assigned Tourism and International Transport. Dwight Sutherland Transport and Public Works and Jeffery Bostic will be the spokeman on Social Care and Community Development.
Former Leader of the Opposition Owen Arthur has not been assigned a specific shadow portfolio. Mottley said the former Prime Minister will have a free hand to speak on any portfolio.
Dr Jerome Walcott, the chairman of the Barbados Labour Party will be the Leader of the Opposition Business in the Senate, Wilfred Abrahams, a losing canadate in the February 21 general election has been appointed to the Upper Chamber.
Mottley said the shadow ministers were both young and experience people.
"I feel that the young people must be given the opportunity to grow. I have every confidence that these Members of Parliament here will do so. They are not new to public life, even if they are new to Parliament, and they been tracking public policy issues for years", Mottley said.
