Six armed bandits rob Lamaha Street Bollywood Night Club

Georgetown: 62-year-old owner, Irene Gooding, of Bollywood Night Club at Lamaha Street, and four of her employees were held up at gunpoint and robbed of a sum of cash, jewellery and four cellular phones by six armed men last night.

After responding promptly to a report received during the robbery, the police pursued the robbers who had scattered in different directions and four of the men were arrested.

A motor car was found with the engine running in the vicinity of the Night Club and the police investigations later revealed that the car had been stolen earlier in the night from a 29-year-old taxi driver, Kevin Higgins of George Street, who was hired by three men from Norton Street to be taken to Sophia where he was held with an ice pick by one of the men. The robbers escaped in Higgins’ car and also took his jewellery and cellular phone.

One .32 round was found inside the car and upon searching the immediate surrounding areas of the Night Club where the robbers had scattered, police found M15 rifle with two magazines and 38 rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition, an air pistol, a camouflage cap and two cell phones that were identified by two of the victims as their property that were stolen during the robbery.

The four men are in police custody as investigations continue.
