Six operating theatres at the QEH closed for two weeks

Bridgetown.

Six operating theatres at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH)  will be close for two weeks as part of a preventative maintenance programme on the air condition systems. 

Director of engeering services at the QEH, Paula Agbowu, said the work would involve the replacement of coils, cleaning and repair of  ducts, preparations for the humidity control of heaters and the ransfer of circuits in the electrical upgrade project.

Agbowu said 60 patients would be affected by the closure  but most of the operations scheduled were elective cases.

The maintenance work is expect to be competed by May 1, two theatres will remain in operation for emergencies and urgent cases.
