Berbice: Relatives of murder victim, Bibi Shameena Deen, believe that the man suspected of shooting her dead is still hiding in close proximity to the community where the brutal killing occurred.
Guyana-born US citizen, Ramdhanie Persaud, has not been seen since his wife’s body was found in the couple’s home at Canefield, East Canje, with bullet wounds to the head and chest.
A relative of the slain woman said that the suspect’s family members have called from overseas to give their condolences. However, there has been no word from the alleged killer.
The relative suspects that Persaud is either hiding out in the canefields or in the vast backlands surrounding the community.
According to the relative, the suspect grew up in the area and knows the backlands well. He also speculated that the fugitive may have money in his possession.
Deen's relatives are appealing to the police to intensify their search in the backlands and canefields. The police are in possession of Persaud’s US passport.
The couple’s 27-year-old relationship is said to have been a turbulent one. Two months ago, Persaud was placed on one-year bond, after he had been charged for assaulting his wife.
A wanted bulletin has been issued for Persaud.
The bulletin gave his date of birth as October 30, 1966, and his last known address as Lot 1071 New Area, Canefield, East Canje, Berbice.
The release appealed to persons with information of the fugitive’s whereabouts to contact the police on telephone numbers: 333-2191, 333-2151, 226-1326, 225-2227, 225-8196,
