Smart Card for the Transport Board

Bridgetown.

The state run Transport Board has introduce a new piece of  technology to the Barbadian public with the    launching of a Super Saver Smart Card.

Similar to the Oyster Card in the United Kingdom, the Smart Card can be topped up and used on all Transport Board buses.

Speaking at the launch of the Smart Card at the Speightown Bus Terminal, Minister of Transport and Works, John Boyce said it was a step in keeping with worldwide trends and is part of of the efforts by the Transport Board to satisfy the demands of the public.

"We believe that this will allow the Board to move into a new realm of value service in Barbados. What we are offering to the public is the opportunity to purchase this reloadable card from any of our terminals", Boyce stated.

He explained that with the top up feature similar to that used by cellular phones, Barbadians will always have travel funds on their person.

The first card is free and can be topped up at all bus terminals across the island from today.
