Georgetown : The children’s Mashramani competition at the National Cultural Centre saw primary and secondary school students showcasing their talents in the form of dramatic poetry and calypso.
Domestic violence, child abuse, corporal punishment and teenage pregnancy were just some of the topics of the well choreographed pieces from the students.
This activity was observed under the theme “Reflecting Creativity Embracing Diversity”.
For the 5-7 calypso category, Vreed-en-Hoop (Region 3) walked away with first prize, while New Amsterdam Primary School (Region 6) secured second position and Lake Mainstay Primary (Region 2) copped third.
In Dramatic Poetry, Green Acres Primary (Georgetown) secured the first, One mile Primary (Region 10) copped second and the third was secured by Belladrum Primary (Region5).
