Soon time for foreign cops

Bridgetown.

Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite, told the annual general meeting of the Barbados Police Association yesterday, that the time is coming when Barbados will be recuiting policemen from abroad.

Brathwaite said that though the stage have not been reached yet where the island have to recuit policemen from overseas, he

thinks the time is drawing nigh.

The Attorney General give peer pressure as the reason why young people are not enlisting in the police force.

"I do not think that a lot of our young people are interested in policing as a career,as it is not cool to be a police officer when you live in some of our communities",   Brathwaite said.

He added that the force  had a challenge not only in terms of manpower, but in relation to the quality of people seeking to enlist.
