Stakeholder in the Tourism Sector Receive Training

Georgetown: The Guyana Tourism Authority has recently conducted frontline training for staff at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), as training and capacity building remain an important aspect of promoting Destination Guyana.
Service agents from various departments at the airport participated in the training which will enable them to improve their interaction skills at the country’s main port of entry.
The training was facilitated by Ms. Maureen Paul from Hospitality Management Services and formed part of the month long list of activities in celebration of Tourism Awareness Month 2012 which is being held under the theme, ‘Re-discover Home’.
The objective of frontline and customer service training is to enhance the knowledge of players in the sector and equip them to provide better customer care for visitors and local alike, as they play an integral part in tourism related services.
Tourism Awareness Month is used to highlight the accomplishments of the sector, to disseminate information, to educate and to reward and recognize individuals, communities and organizations for their sterling contributions to tourism in Guyana.
Other activities slated for this month include a Social Media Marketing workshop, a Trade Show Seminar and the recently concluded City Tour Guide Training, where 22 persons received training.
