Georgetown : First Lady Deolatchmee Ramotar and her son Alexei, welcomed a large number of guests that included members of the Diplomatic Corps, Government Ministers and other officials and invited guests to their annual event ‘An Evening of Christmas Carols’ last night to usher in the festive season. Alexei Ramotar welcomed the guests on behalf of President Donald Ramotar who was on his way to South Africa to attend the funeral of the late Nelson Mandela. The younger Ramotar told the guests that the event has the potential to bring people together, and such a tradition should be maintained, hence the annual event by the President and First Lady. There were performances from the Police Military Band, solos including ‘Oh Holy Night’ by Russel Lancaster, and ‘Have yourself a merry little Christmas’ by Mrs C. Clarke. In the Community singing, guests participated in ‘The First Noel’, ‘Hark the Angels Sing’ and the finale ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’.
