Georgetown : Minister of State, Joseph Harmon  met with officials from the oil and gas company CNOOC Nexen to discuss issues related to the company’s operation locally.

The delegation included Chairman of the CNOOC International, Zhi Fang and Vice Chairman, Patrick Mc Veigh along with executives Anand Gohil and Guoyoug Li.

CNOOC Nexen is a partner of ExxonMobil and Hess on the Stabroek Licence or LIZA Project.

The historic contract with ExxonMobil, CNOOC Nexen and Hess under which several billion barrels of oil will be produced was released by the Government of Guyana on December 28, 2017.

Guyana stands to gain some US$7Billion over a twenty-year period from the LIZA Phase One well only.

CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana Limited is a subsidiary of Canadian oil and gas company Nexen, and ultimately owned by Hong Kong-based CNOOC Limited.

As Guyana prepares for first oil come 2020 Government continues its engagements with international oil companies.
