Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has just declared a limited state of emergency in crime hot spots across Trinidad. The declaration came with a night curfew beginning at midnight tonight.
Bissessar's announcement comes in the wake of more than seven killings over the weekend with gunmen going on a shooting spree in Arima. Ironically it also comes on the heels of a statement by Leader of Government Business, Dr Roodal Monilal, that there was no need for a state of emergency.
