State-owned water authority denies responsibility for road damage that maroons hundreds

Blanchisuese: The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is denying that a burst water main contributed to land slippage in the Morne La Croix, Blanchicheuse, as residents remain stranded for another day.

WASA’s Corporate Communications Manager Ellen Lewis says it was land movement which caused the water line to burst.

The leak is being repaired by a WASA crew and Lewis says she's hoping the water supply to the area will be restored soon.

However, she says the permanent solution is to divert the line away from the area which is prone to land movements.

Yesterday hundreds of residents in Morne La Croix village, Blanchisseuse were stranded but there's an assurance from Works Minister Jack Warner that action will be taken to bring an early resolution to their problem.
