Port-of-Spain: Several business places in Northern Trinidad and also in Tobago including a hotel, are today without water as the state-controlled Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is continuing its aggressive collection drive for over half a billion dollars owed to the public utility.
WASA says that on Thursday the Authority cut the supply to a hardware dealer and other businesses located at 19 Saddle Road, Maraval for arrears totaling $48,872.
Another customer at 191 Belmont Circular Road also had their supply turned off for owing sums in excess of $48,000 while another located at 22 Luis Street, Woodbrook was cut for a bill of over $52,000.
Across in Tobago, the supply to the Arnos Vale hotel was switched off for an unpaid $91,000.
The service to the Eteck Mall, Scarborough was also turned off for non-payment of $23,000 while the Pizza Boys outlet in Scarborough was disconnected for an outstanding sum of just over $4000.
Also in Tobago WASA says the supply to Windsor Cottage of Young Street was cut for $38 00 in outstanding arrears.
WASA also says that the supply to the Eteck Mall, Pizza Boys and Windsor Cottage was restored after payments were made.
WASA is warning all who have outstanding bills to pay up as soon as possible or face a similar fate.
