Georgetown : The Government is cognizant that Guyana’s strategic geographic location, if exploited properly can realize the achievement of economic and social developments other countries only dream about.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and second Vice President Carl Greenidge assures that Guyana has made the primary steps in strengthening relations with neighbours within the South American Region.
“The primary step has been to consult with many of our southern partners. We are working within the context of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States, we have been trying to deepen these things in relation to CARICOM,” Minister Greenidge outlined.
He added that in relation to the MERCUSOR group, Guyana inscribed their name as an observer in the group and has been working with some of its member countries in the region to diversify access to markets.
Over the years, Guyana would have enjoyed relations with countries of the Region, which the current administration has been working to deepen with one area of cooperation being the construction of a bridge across the Corentyne River- connecting Suriname and Guyana.
