Kingston.
Over 200 drivers in Montego and Kingston joined in solidarity to protest the failure of Austin Haulage Contractors to pay over outstanding salaries and allowances to two of their colleagues.
This afternoon, president of the National Workers Union, Vincent Morrison said an agreement was reached on the outstanding payments following a meeting with Energy Minister, Phillip Paulwell.
He says two drivers who were short-paid will receive an interim payment of $500,000 with final sums to be given to them by Friday, May 17.
Morrison says the union and Austin Haulage will be meeting tomorrow to settle on a final figure.
The outstanding salaries and allowances are said go back as far as 2011.
