There is a need for a strong and respected consumer rights organization in Barbados says Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Senator Haynesley Benn.
Speaking at a workshop/seminar on the Legal Framework for Financial Services, Consumer Protection and Consumer Loans Agreement at the Amaryllis Hotel yesterday.
According to Benn, such a body is required to focus on the education of consumer issues including financial matters.
"Even with the best Government regulations,there will be a need for such a body to research specific consumers concerns and to be a advocate for consumers. Not every conceivable issue facing consumers can be reglated", Benn said
Delegates from several Caribbean countries are attending the two day workshop.
