Berbice : Today at about 5:20am, the body of Omesh Thakurdeen, of No. 72 Village, Corentyne, was found hanging in the lock-ups at the No.51 Police Station, Corentyne, Berbice.
The 27 year old Thakurdeen was taken into custody at about last night during investigations into the murder of Medical Doctor Max Kungel, whose body was found in the backdam at No. 70 Village, Corentyne, on March 17, 2013, with gunshot injuries.
While in the lock-ups at the Police Station visits were made by the police to Omesh Thakurdeen’s cell in which he was the only prisoner; and during the check at this morning he was found hanging by his shirt from the grill work.
The body is at the Skeldon Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination as the investigations continue.
