A Tablet Pilot Project will be launched in primary schools next week, by the Media Resource Department (MRD).
The official launch takes place on Tuesday, December 3, at 10:00 a.m. in the MRD’s Auditorium at the Elsie Payne Complex, Constitution Road, St. Michael.
The first phase, which will involve eight primary schools, will see eight teachers, who have been selected to participate in the pilot, receiving an iPad at the launch.
Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Harcourt Husbands will deliver the feature address, while Chief Media Resource Officer, Walter Harper will gave welcome remarks.
Giving the rationale behind the pilot, Mr. Harper noted that in the last 15 years technology had moved from desktop to laptop to tablet, with the tablet quickly replacing the laptop. He added: “The key aim of the pilot is to further enhance the use of emerging technologies in schools.”
