Georgetown- At about midday yesterday , the police arrested a taxi driver and during a subsequent search of his premises at Ketley Street, Charlestown, found an unlicensed 9mm. pistol and three matching rounds.
The police were at the time following up with investigations into an armed robbery that occurred at about 0515h. on Sunday March 20, 2011, at Durban Backlands, Georgetown, during which Clarence Foster was attacked and robbed of his jewellery by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The taxi driver is in police custody and charges will be made shortly.
