Several members of the Barbados Secondary Teachers Union (BSTU) affected by the shake-up at the Alexandra School are still away from the classroom.
President of BSTU Mary Redman told Trakker News that all except who were transferred from Alexandra School have recovered from their illness and were at the schools they were reassigned to.
Some of the teachers who were transferred to Alexandra have fallen ill and five of them are currently on certified leave.
A source told Trakker News, there are issues relating to the discipline at the St Peter school which newly assigned principal Orson Alleyne has reported to the Ministry of Education.
Those developments have led to a senior teacher being relieved of the majority of teaching duties to assist Alleyne and his deputy June Browne with the administration of the school.
According to the source, the senior teacher wa retained to teach fifth form but another teacher has been hired to teach these classes.
Redman said these developments showed the transition had not been as as smooth as indicated by officials of the Ministry of Education.
"Reports reaching the union indicate that the transfer process has been fraught with difficulties for both teachers and students alike at this very important time in the school year", Redman said.
"We are awaiting our meeting with the chairman of the Public Service Commission to have these outstanding issues addressed.Importantly among these is the transfer of person falling under an established memorandum of understanding in place for more than 25 years", she added.
