ST JOHN’S, Antigua : Police investigations into the May robbery of an electronic store hit pay dirt Thursday, leading to the discovery of over $26,000 worth of plundered goods and the arrest of two teenaged boys.
The 15 and 18-year-old Radio Range youth were charged with the break-in and larceny from an electronic store on Redcliffe Street, where they allegedly fleeced the premises of 100 cellular phones, 10 laptops, a camera and 10 screwdrivers, a police press release said.
According to a source, the teenagers were caught in the act this week as they attempted to burglarise yet another business. However, their plans were foiled when the owner of the establishment held them at gunpoint until police arrived.
Subsequent to their arrest, the source said that the homes of the teens were search and that is where the goods were found.
The owner of Superman Cell Phone Repair, Bernhard “Superman” Folss applauded the police efforts to get the “thugs off the street.”
In a previous interview with OBSERVER Media after the incident, he pleaded for the community to contact law enforcement with tips on the thieves and on stolen goods.
